Six weeks in.

Six weeks in.

Wow! Six weeks into our new adventure and we couldn’t be happier. The support and attention Lone Oak Brewing Co has received since opening our doors has been extremely humbling. Beer lovers from all parts of our Province, and the Mainland, have travelled near and far to sample our products, and for that, we are very grateful.

The engagement with local residents has been a blast and we look forward to building these relationships for years to come. Creating this environment of a “local-social-gathering-hub” was important to us. This importance is derived from one of our fundamental brand pillars here at Lone Oak Brewing Co, Support Local, and if we are asking for the local communities to support us, it only makes sense for us to support local suppliers.

Having grown up on a farm in rural PEI, I have always wanted to stay connected to the Island’s Agriculture Industry. An industry filled with so many talented professionals that Lone Oak is thrilled to be working with. So how exactly have we done this so far at Lone Oak? Check out these “local” fun facts: 98% of the grain we use in our beer at Lone Oak is grown and malted on PEI, all within a 60km radius of our brewery (Keep up the good work Shoreline Malting and Island Malt House!) Red Shore Orchards of Montague provides us with 100% of the high-quality local apple juice we use in our hard cider. Island Hop Company provides us with a portion of our hops and last but not least our spent grain is even used locally as feed for dairy cattle.

We look forward to making more connections with local farmers on PEI and to continue this cycle of support for one another. Speaking of which…. keep your eyes peeled for a beer aged on cherry plums from The Grove Orchards in Warren Grove!

With all this being said, every time you raise a pint of Lone Oak, share a cheers to an Island Farmer, without them, our products just wouldn’t be the same!
